Racing Kites – We Hold It All Together

By paul

Talk about a disappointment. When I first heard this band their energy was great, the demos on their myspace exuded the kind of confidence bands like Cartel and The Starting Line. Their songs had huge hooky choruses and enough pace to not fall flat into the ‘written for radio’ genre which so many bands – Cartel included – have dropped into. This EP, all six songs sadly, sounds flat and devoid of the same passion and energy. It’s boring. The choruses aren’t as strong and the production seems to have stripped it of any soul. And while ‘Hands Against The Sky’ is still a massive, massive tune, the rest pale into insignificance, drifting along rather aimlessly. I hardly sung along – and with a pop-punk record, you know that’s not a good sign at all.
