Ride Your Bike – The Connection

By paul

I thought I remembered the band name from somewhere and it turns out I actually reviewed the band about 30 months ago. I liked them then and I still like them now. There’s a bit of a Piebald feel to some of the songs, while the label says they’re for fans of ‘Plain White T’s, Dashboard Confessional, Say Anything, Honorary Title, Death Cab For Cutie‘. If you can somehow imagine a mix of those bands, probably focussing more on Honorary Title, you will not be that far off.

Vocalist Mike Getches has a twee style of telling his stories, often in a whimsical way that is both passionate and inspiring. It’s also pretty damn melodic and each of the songs on this record will have your foot a-tapping and your hands a-clapping. That’s one of Ride Your Bike‘s greatest traits; they can make you do things without even knowing that you’re doing it. ‘The Connection’ is a great little record and one well worth checking out.
