Scream! Shout! Say Nothing have a very apt name, seeing as though they scream, shout and say nothing in pretty equal measures. Signed to rapidly rising UK indie Scylla Records, there’s an obvious nod towards the usual “emo” suspect in the Herts-based quintet’s sound, although they’re probably more experimental than their influences. Over the course of this three-track, 20-minute long EP the band showcase a sound that while quite familiar, shows glimpses of genius. And while there isn’t one whole song that gets me going, there are elements within all three that stand out a mile. With no tracklisting to hand, tracks two and shine shine in places; backing vocals and scything guitars glow in particular. But while there’s work to be done refining the experimental side – and maybe shaving some of the minutes and superfluous moments off the songs – S!S!SN, for short, suggest we could well be looking out for them this summer.
