Stagecoach – Crash My Ride

By Tom Aylott

If you’re in a band like Stagecoach, you’re battling the fact that your music is fairly likely never really going to be the most fashionable thing on the planet. And you’re also probably not going to give a crap either.

To find originality amidst the droves, you really need look no further than Stagecoach: Mandolin infused and gritty, the band are adept at mixing together a hearty bunch of styles and rather sounding like no-one else.

‘Crash My Ride’ is the band’s latest effort, and very likely their best to date. Pretty much every single song on the EP will take one full listen to find a nice little spot in your brain, nestle and put a big smile on your face.

‘Axe Behind My Back’ and ‘Headbangers Ball’ are probably the best from the collection, but it’s basically one big lush adventure in stompy pop. The band will take a few listens to really understand if you’re new – but between the clever lyrics, the meandering anthemic songs and excellent production, you’ll have no excuse not to like if it’s anywhere near being “up your street” at all.
