It’s always difficult reviewing a record that really doesn’t fit into the genres of music we cover here on PT. The name of this website has always been a misnomer anyway, but Stylus Boy borrows more from Ryan Adams than Frank Turner, and yes there’s a big difference. That’s no disrespect to this particular band, it just means that I don’t listen to this type of music, have very little knowledge about it and don’t really feel too qualified to say anything constructive about it, other than the obvious. So why am I reviewing it? Well if someone takes the time to read the site and ask politely for a review, I guess I feel some kind of misguided loyalty to write a few words for them. On a few occasions, like this one, that backfires because I end of waffling on to fill up some space because I just don’t know what to write about. ‘Fingerprint’ is a nice little listen. It doesn’t break new boundaries, it sounds like nothing I listen to on a regular basis and I’m sure NME readers would quite enjoy this. It’s just not really my thing. Sorry.
