Sweet Talk – S/T

By paul

Y’know what? I really like this band. Sweet Talk remind me a lot of You Me At 6. Now I don’t want this to sound bitchy or anything as I really liked the first YMA6 album, but I didn’t like the second one so much. Sweet Talk have a similar vibe to that first YMA6 record. Alex Muller’s vocals sound a little too close at times to Josh, and the way the songs are structured will also lead to a few comparisons…they’re also from Weybridge, YMA6’s neck of the woods. But don’t let this talk of a different band cloud your judgement – the four songs on this EP are really, really good.

Sweet Talk formed in late 2008 but were formerly known as Half Past Always. They claim to be influenced by the likes of Kids In Glass Houses and Panic! At The Disco and they write songs about partying and teenage heartbreak. ‘Trust Me’ sounds a bit like All Time Low, just so you know what you’re getting. They’ll win no prizes for originality, but they will for the catchiness of their songs and the sheer amount of singalongs. Seriously, this band know how to write a chorus.

Bands like Sweet Talk are ten-a-penny. But bands as good as Sweet Talk are like rocking horse shit. These guys could go really far
