The Agency – Turn

By paul

If you thought The Agency had an accomplished sound, well you’d be right. the band have been going for 13 years, on and off, and contain Dashboard drummer Mike Marsh as a current member and a certain Chris Carrabba as a former bandmate. ‘Turn’ is the band’s latest full-length album and their first since the band re-formed in 2003. With a Bon Jovi (minus the cock rock) meets Further Seems Forever vibe, this is a good, old-fashioned rock record. There are plenty of singalong hooks, solid guitar riffs and catchy songs – it’s everything you would expect a record of this ilk to be.

‘Walking Disaster’ is a great song, while ‘Picture’ reminds me of Bon Jovi for some reason. It kind of has a ‘Dead Or Alive’ real classic rock feel to it, especially in the guitars and the way the vocals have been recorded. Although The Agency have been around for such a long time, the other bands that have super-ceded them means there’s less of an expectation on this album. As a result, it’s probably going to end up being a rather nice, unexpected sleeper hit. If you like FSF, or are just looking for something with simple rock songs, this record could be the one for you.
