The Bronx – The Bronx

By paul

For one reason or another The Bronx have always passed me by and I’ve struggled to get into them. But credit where it’s due because this record moves away from their move hardcore roots into a more rock n roll style sound; it’s more southern, a bit more passionate and a bit more raw. The results are great as this is a really fun album, at times it’s magnificent and if two or three duller songs were hacked off then this would be exceptional. As it is it remains a good, solid record.

‘Inveigh’ and ‘Sick Days A Week’ are drum heavy, noisy rock songs. The vocals sound better than ever before, really loud and really passionate. It’s that raw edge which makes this The Bronx album stand out above the hours. It’s one of those records you just need to turn up loud and play from start to finish. The roar that eminates from the start of ‘Digital Leash’ is as fresh as the opening bars of ‘Knifeman’ and that’s the thing with this album, it’s just gutsy from start to finish. Most enjoyable.
