The City Drive sound like some kind of crazy All American Rejects/Allister/Jimmy Eat World amalgamation. There’s lots of pop here, some harder moments and plenty of vocal harmonies alluding to JEW and friends. To be honest, there’s little to say that I haven’t said about bands like Cartel, Hit The Lights and All Time Low in recent weeks. This record has all the pre-requisites any band of this ilk needs – tunes, choruses, singalong bits, solid production…it’s just a little bit too inoffensive and isn’t quite up to other bands who play a similar style of music. Jacks mannequin, for example, write better songs. Cartel are catchier. The City Drive are good, they’re just not great – and that’s what separates them from the rest of the premier pack…
