The Give A Hoot – Their Years Apart

By paul

The Give A Hoot sound competent at playing their instruments – but they’re not really that great at writing songs. Their Years Apart EP is just a bit bland. ‘Pushover’ sounds like it’s got potential, but it sounds like the first draft of a song. Miguel Prado should be the greatest song ever written given the title, but it’s just boring and the singer sounds like he’s angrily trying to keep himself awake whilst the rest of the band fall asleep behind him. ‘The Mediator and The Agitator’ is vaguely interesting, but it’s nothing that 100’s of bands haven’t done before, and better. All in all there isn’t really anything else to say about this EP. It isn’t terrible, but it isn’t very good either.
