The Go Sheilas – Greatest Hits Vol. 1

By paul

If the Dance Hall Crashers returned with a sound more akin to No Use For A Name or some of the other EpiFat bands, they may well be called The Go Sheilas. Featuring members of The Bronx and No Doubt (mainly in recording older EPs) this is very catchy female-fronted SoCal pop punk. And it’s very good too – ‘Better Life’ and ‘Simple Plan‘ are fun and energetic, while the album’s closer ’99 Red Balloons’ is still good fun, even if it’s not a patch on the Goldfinger version. The Go Sheilas amp up the melodies and choruses and there are more catchy elements here than most bands cram in during a whole career.
