I guess there’s a rockabily-esque tinge to The Hacks‘ sound, although they’re more Living End than The Peacocks, if you ask me. This EP is half a dozen or so tracks and it’s pretty good for what it is; everything is in the right place and the likes of ‘I’ll See You Right’ are genuinely catchy tunes. I did think that over the course of the whole thing it started to sound a bit samey – the guitar tone in particular doesn’t change a great deal – and it’s also not really my kind of thing, so it didn’t really stick out in a way that music I like listening to does. I know this isn’t the most enthusiastic review, but all I can say is that this is good for what it is and if you like bands like The Living End, chances are you will like The Hacks too.
