I have no idea where to start with this. Heavily distorted guitar riffs mashed together with heavily distorted, and pretty much indistinguishable, vocals. That’s the basic premise The Rampton Release Date set for this three track demo. Each song is set the same way – loud, repetitive riff with some kind of shouty vocal. And, for what it is, I guess it’s kind of reasonable. I mean there are plenty of worse bands around. It’s just, well, it’s devoid of any kind of ideas except some decent riffs. I mean ‘Don’t Suffocate Your Sister’ has a great riff, but it just lacks anything else. I know bands like Sabbath and Maiden are probably more renowned for their riffs than their songs, but I like tracks to be well rounded and complete – and the three tracks here aren’t. Take the riffs back to the drawing board because they are well worth salvaging.
