The Wilde – ‘Young Libertine’

By Jess Tagliani

In the last few years, Britain’s come back biting with the amount of new talent that it’s been lucky to have given birth to. Bands like Bring Me the Horizon, You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, and Young Guns have had staggering success across the pond in the USA and Australia, as well as tours in Asia. Then you have the slighter newer bands – Lower Than Atlantis, Don Broco, and Mallory Knox to name a few.

And now, there’s another name to add to that ever-growing list. Leeds quintet The Wilde have the upcoming ‘Young Libertine’ due to be released on 17 November; a five-track EP that’s full of energy and blistering riffs, it’s a release that’ll cement their place in the ‘Ones to Watch’ section of the music industry quickly.

There’s punchy riffs galore within ‘Until Next Time It’s a One Time Thing’ and a killer bass line that lifts Tommy Fleming’s impressive and dynamic vocals – vocals that are rather reminiscent of Don Broco frontman Rob Damiani. The chorus is huge, and laden with catchy hooks and compelling melodies.

‘Bad Bones’ and ‘Youth In Bloom’ are bold, spirited, and colourful. The talent that The Wilde have to offer is staggering, especially when it’s taken into consideration that this is their debut. Riffs are tireless and steady, and the drum work is compact and solid. Title track ‘Young Libertine’, meanwhile, is fun and lively, full of blazing energy that sees this EP end on a real high.

Where music is concerned, it’s a time to be proud of what Britain has to offer. And The Wilde have more than enough reason to be extremely proud of their ‘Young Libertine’ EP – it’s a release that’ll put their name on everyone’s lips.
