This Ocean Between – The State of Things To Come

By paul

This band sound a bit like Aiden if they took the cartoon-y horror punk away and mixed it with Bring Me The Horizon. That’s me, in a subtle way, saying this record is beyond awful. ‘The State of Things To Come’, a horrendous Refused rip off at that, is a record riddled with borrowed riffs and cliches. The screaming vocals are among the worst I have ever heard in a screamo band, the ‘melodic’ vocals simply come in at the usual moments and the synth parts are completely pointless, seemingly chucked in because that’s what the genre rulebook tells you to do in a band like this.

Put simply, there’s not one single good aspect to this band. Want to listen to heavy/melodic music like this then listen to ‘Chasing safety’-era Underoath. Or We Are The Ocean if you want something more British. This Ocean Between sound like a Penknifelovelife tribute act and that says it all.
