Throughout reviewing this EP I was thinking of which bands Time To Leave sound like and couldn’t pin it own. There’s a little 30 Seconds To Mars in there, perhaps a little Incubus too. They do have quite a good, melodic rock sound though on both commercial and non-commercial levels which means Time To Leave must be doing something right. Last time I reviewed the band I criticised them for writing songs which were way too long and they’ve heeded that advice as the tracks on this record are much shorter and, unsurprisingly, much better.
Andy Hunt is a very talented vocalist and he uses his voice to really guide the songs through twists and turns. Interesting and intriguing, the band mix up the pace a lot (‘Strength of Heroes’ and ‘Second Hand Wings’ are both great songs) to vary things, showing off their technical side as well as poppier moments through the choruses. While I can’t say this is the type of music I listen to on a regular basis it’s easy to spot talent and if these guys keep up this rate of progress there’s no reason why they won’t get signed and do good things very soon.
