Trash Talk – Eyes and Nines

By paul

Make no bones about it, Trash Talk are built for the live setting. ‘Eyes and Nines’ doesn’t come close to the experience you get when their eyeballs are bulging out of the skulls, so the recommendation from me would be to give this CD a miss and spend the money seeing the band live instead. While I can heartily recommend the band for an evening’s entertainment in a live setting, ‘Eyes and Nines’ isn’t something I could ever listen to on repeat.

Lacking some of the energy and excitement, it just doesn’t really stack up. I’m not a fan of thrash or hardcore or however you want to tag it, so the prospect of an album was never going to get me overly excited and listening to this album just reinforced that idea. Songs tend to blend into one another and while they’re all short and vicious, I didn’t find too much to get my blood pumping and my fists a-thumping. Trash Talk are an essential live band, but not so essential on record.
