This 4-tracker is a tour only EP available on their US dates whenever you buy any merch. But it’s also streaming on a few (legal) websites and so I figured, as I love Valencia, this would be worthy of few sentences. As the title suggests this is an EP made up of a quartet of songs that didn’t make the cut off the last album, but you would never have guessed as the songs are up to the band’s usual high standards. ‘The Good Life’ is a little more measured than usual but Shane’s awesome vocals standout as per normal, while ‘Free’ is a little quicker in tempo but equally as good in the singalong stakes. ‘I Can’t See Myself’ is arguably the best of the four and certainly wouldn’t be out of place on either of their full-lengths.
A short and sweet review I know, but this EP simply reinforces the fact Valencia are one of the best bands around at this pop-punk lark and if you haven’t yet got round to checking them out, this record would be as good a place to start as any.
