We are the in Crowd – Guaranteed To Disagree

By paul

Hey, Hey Monday. This is how you should sound like.

I first came across We are the in Crowd when I heard a demo of ‘For The Win’ and thought they were catchy but a little generic. ‘Guaranteed To Disagree’ doesn’t exactly shake that tag, but it does cement the view that this band can sing really, really catchy tunes that are perfect for summer listening. And with female pop-punk singers in vogue there’s no reason at all why WATIC won’t make real waves in 2010.

‘Carry Me Home’ kicks things off in fine fashion, all drums and vocals. Tay Jardine certainly has a very poppy vocal and she rightly takes centre stage. The dual boy/girl vocals are used well, not overly done either so tracks like ‘Never Be What You Want’ trade vocal blows perfectly. Infact it’s only when the band tend to go down the synthy route, ironically with ‘For The Win’, that they sound a little bit too sickly sweet. They’re much, much better when they just sing passionately and melodically rather than coating tracks in effects and samples.

You can see why Hopeless took a chance on this band. I’m pretty sure they’re headed for bigger and better things.
