I didn’t expect to like this at all, but I’ve surprised myself as ‘Class War’ is actually pretty good. It’s fist-in-the-air Sick of it All-esque hardcore done well. Infact this album gets better the longer it goes on. It kind of crosses the line between punk and hardcore and keeps flicking between the two, entertaining enough to keep fans of both bands happy. It’s not brash enough to annoy Gallows, not quite poppy enough for fans of Set Your Goals, but finds itself nicely straddling the two of them in some kind of musical sex position.
‘I Don’t Care’ is a great song, the gang vocals of ‘Cap City‘ are fantastic – there’s actually a huge vocal melody in this song which surprised me no end – while ‘Class War’ is really hard and heavy and more like the band’s signature sound. I guess it shows you should never judge a book by it’s cover. At 16 songs this is a really good listen and comes well recommended.
