Witches With Dicks – Manual

By paul

Witches With Dicks arguably have one of the worst names I have ever come across. Ready to slate them ’til the cows come hom e, I popped the disc in the CD player and was pleasantly surprised to hear a gruff punk band with more than a passing nod towards the likes of Hot Water Music and Latterman. And how could anybody slag off a band for sounding like that? While it’s arguably not the greatest rendition of the genre in the world, it’s certainly a lot better than their name would suggest – making WWD a band worth checking out.

Sharing singing duties, the vocals are spot-on throughout and with a hi-energy approach, songs like ‘One Whopper For The Copper’ and ‘Your Job Does Not Rock Balls’ are genuinely good songs; fast melodic punk rock with a healthy dose of gruff vocals to boot. It’s a passionate record, firmly wearing its heart on sleeve – making this a very enjoyable, and honest, listen.
