First play of the debut Faux EP

By Ben Tipple

Southampton based dirty pop four-piece Faux play just that – a combination of energetic and infectious melody with a quirky alternative edge. It’s a sound that sees them avoid sitting comfortably in any box, instead straddling both pop and alternative genres. With a scene dominated by British pop-rock bands, Faux confidently demonstrate on their ‘Patterns’ EP that there is still space for ingenuity.

The previously released ‘Backbone’ and the title-track have seen Faux picked up by their local BBC Introducing team, as well as bringing them to the attention of bands ranging from indie-rockers MassMatiks to Punktastic regulars Nathan Detroit and Boston Manor. Their melodic style, intertwined with unexpected song-structures has been proven to explode in a live setting, led by fromtman Lee Male’s dominating and note-perfect vocals.

The ‘Patterns’ EP will be available digitally on the 19th January 2015 via Close To Home Records, with physical copies available from the 23rd February. Ahead of this, the band are streaming the five-track EP exclusively below.

Faux will be joining Nathan Detroit and Actions (who won our 2014 recording studio competition) for a celebratory weekender, before performing for BBC Introducing South on the 31st January 2015. They also released a candid behind-the-scenes video for their recently unveiled ‘Patterns‘ shoot – which can be viewed below the EP stream.
